It happened so fast…

It happened so fast…

Yesterday while visiting my parents, Emma got bit in the face by their eleven and half year old Corgi…. I’m dealing with some mixed emotions… the dog was owned by my grandparents when they were alive and now mom has him, so he is family… but he bit MY baby girl!

Before I get to far, Emma is fine. She has scratches on her cheek and a cut nose… nothing that needed stitches. You can see a picture of her here.

Sadly my family has a history of dog bites… my two oldest sisters bear scars on their faces because of them… you would think we would have learned our lesson 40 years ago… but apparently we need a reminder that no matter how tame and loved a dog is, it is still unpredictable.

I’m not mad at Jiggs (the dog)… he’s an old man… and most little dogs don’t tolerate little ones when they get older… I feel sad… sad because I couldn’t protect my baby girl, sad for my sister who was playing with Emma at the time… sad for my mom because her dog bit her granddaughter…

I love dogs… I was blessed to be able to grow up with an amazing one for my first 15 years, and I was truly hoping that Emma would be able to know that too… now I’m not so sure.

Note to Uncle Ricky: No worries… Fitz will always be welcome in my home.

  1. Fitz is a lover, not a biter.

Poor Emma. Did you see it happen? You must have literally shit yourself.

There goes what little chance you had of getting your own pup.
